I find it ironic that the best advice I've received lately came from the side of a starbucks cup. As I was thoroughly enjoying my cinnamon dolce latte this morning, I absentmindedly skimmed the "The Way I See It" on the side of the cup. It seemed mildly interesting so I read it again and was surprised at how much sense it made. This is what it said:

"You can learn a lot more from listening than you can from talking. Find someone with whom you don't agree in the slightest and ask them to explain themselves at length. Then take a seat, shut your mouth, and don't argue back. It's physically impossible to listen with your mouth open."
-- John Moe

I think we would all be a little better off if we could make an effort to listen to others. Too often we pass judgment too early in a conversation or butt in before the other person is finished speaking. It's time we all learned to recognize when to talk and when to shut up and listen. Ahhh if only it were that easy!
